Your Brigade's Engagement Targets, Not Someone Else's

Set the standards that actually fit your brigade, and give your management team an early, fair picture of who's still engaged β€” while a quiet word can still make the difference.

No two brigades run the same. A busy integrated station and a small rural brigade with a handful of turnouts a year cannot sensibly be held to the same number. Nor can a twenty-year life member and a recruit three months in. Any system that ships a fixed definition of an engaged member will be wrong for almost everybody.

So ReadyRoom doesn't ship one. Your Brigade Management Team decides what gets measured, which activities count toward each standard, and what the target is for each class of member. Operational members might be expected at four brigade meetings, five trainings, and ten turnouts a year β€” support members, something else entirely.

And the point of measuring is not to build a case against anyone. It's to notice, early and fairly, that a member who used to be at everything hasn't been seen since March β€” while there's still time to ask how they're going.

  • Define your own standards β€” name them, choose which event categories count toward each, and set the target
  • Member classes let you hold different members to different expectations, each measured against the first class they match
  • Pace-aware through the year: see who's on track right now, not just who came up short in June
  • Leave, waivers, and members who joined part-way through the period are excluded automatically β€” nobody is measured on time they were never there for
  • Apologies are recorded and don't count against a member
  • Drill into any member's standing to see the evidence behind it β€” every meeting, training, turnout, and roster check

Engagement first, enforcement never

These numbers exist to start conversations, not to end memberships. A member drifting away from the brigade usually means something changed in their life, not that they stopped caring β€” and the earlier someone notices, the more likely a chat brings them back. If your BMT isn't sure where to set its targets, the ReadyRoom team will help you work them out from your own brigade's history rather than somebody else's benchmark.
